The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was held in two parts: on the 10th and 12th of December in Geneva, and on the 18th and 16th of November in Tunisia. This summit is recognized as a watershed moment for the United Nations and the International Telecommunication Union, which served as the summit's lead management organization, as well as all of the summit's stakeholders.
