The National Committee for the Information Society invites participation in the United Nations World Summit Awards competition

17/10/2016

The National Committee for the Information Society invited all organizations from the government, corporate, and community sectors to participate in the sixth edition of the United Nations Awards for the Outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society. The awards are a thank you from the United Nations to everyone who helped execute the World Summit on the Information Society's action plans, which were conducted in two stages in 2003 and 2005.

The focus of the courses of action is on the role of governments and all sectors of society in supporting communications, information technology and infrastructure, access to information and knowledge, capacity building, and security in the use of technologies.

Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, Chairman of the National Committee for the Information Society and Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, stated that participation in these awards contributes in highlighting the Kingdom's achievements and progress in digital transformation. He went on to say that the leadership of the Kingdom spares no effort in adopting and supporting plans and initiatives that would help realize the goals and aspirations of the information society, and KSA becoming among the most advanced countries in this regard.

The National Committee for the Information Society urged all those interested in competing for the award to go to www.ncis.org.sa to learn about the conditions of the award, and fill out the form on the website.

The National Committee for the Information Society’s role is promoting the Kingdom's accomplishments and efforts in the transition to the information society, in collaboration with the organizations that make up its membership. Since 2012, the Kingdom has received seven prizes from the United Nations Awards for WSIS Projects, as well as 3 certificates of excellence.
